Prayers from Maria Announces New Executive Director

Prayers from Maria has selected Rachael Russo Stalzer, J.D. as its inaugural exectutive director.

Rocky River, OH (April 24, 2014) –Prayers from Maria Children’s Glioma Cancer Foundation (“Prayers from Maria”), a Cleveland-based nonprofit dedicated to childhood brain tumor research funding, has selected Rachael Russo Stalzer, J.D. as its inaugural executive director.
“Prayers from Maria has grown so much over the last few years, and we are very excited to hire an executive director to focus on further developing our mission to fund the most promising childhood glioma research,” said Ed McNamara, president and co-founder. “As executive director, Rachael will oversee day-to-day operations, coordinate community partnerships to increase awareness and fundraising, and work closely with the board, committees, and volunteers to take our foundation to the next level.”
Stalzer has worked with Prayers from Maria since 2011, collaborating with the foundation’s management, volunteers, and partners to shine the spotlight on the lack of funding for children’s glioma brain tumor research and raise funds to support Prayers from Maria’s research grants. Previously, Stalzer was an attorney with Roetzel & Andress, practicing in the field of business litigation. Stalzer received a J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where she was Symposium Editor of The Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution, and studied journalism and political science at The Ohio State University, where she was a four-year member of the Honors Program.
“We are excited to bring Rachael on board as executive director,” said Megan McNamara, co-founder. “She has been with us as a board member and volunteer for over two years, and her dedication and drive have helped Prayers from Maria make a true impact on children’s glioma brain tumor research. We are confident that she will use her leadership and communication abilities to continue building on that progress as executive director.”
“I am honored by the opportunity that Ed and Megan have extended to me,” said Stalzer. “Prayers from Maria is known across the country for its support of ground-breaking research to develop more targeted treatments for children battling glioma brain tumors. I am excited to have the opportunity to grow and develop our support for research and be a voice for children fighting
