Laurie Streszoff
Family Outreach Volunteer / Mother of Abby (2/10/2004 to 12/1/2010)
Rocky River, OH
Laurie graduated from Lorain County Community College with an Associates degree in Business Administration. Laurie worked in customer service, claims and underwriting departments within the life insurance industry which ultimately lead her to a management position before starting a family and becoming a stay-at-home-mom.
Laurie and her husband resided in Maineville, OH, north of Cincinnati, for almost 20 years before returning home to the Cleveland area in 2015. While living in Maineville, they experienced the loss of their oldest of two daughters, Abby Lyn, to a pediatric brain tumor, glioblastoma, at the young age of 6. Along with the support of family, they were surrounded by a community of loving friends, fellow parishioners and a strong medical community at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
The experience of the loss of Abby has inspired Laurie to want to provide support to other families. Laurie has been a volunteer for Prayers From Maria for the past few years, helping in Maria’s gift shop at Maria’s Fields of Hope, raising money as a member of the Sunflower Striders team, helping at the Sunflower Wine Festival and passionately sharing with others the mission of the foundation.
Laurie is thrilled to be be a member of the Prayers From Maria team, providing support, hope and encouragement to families facing this difficult battle. She wants to honor these children and keep them in the hearts of others forever while supporting efforts to end childhood brain cancer.
Laurie resides in Bay Village with her husband and daughter, Emma Grace.
